Melbourne in 2018, Perth in 2019 and now Adelaide in 2020.

The State of Origin 'circus' is going on an around the nation tour culminating in Adelaide, the NRL announced today.

Either Game One or Two of the 2020 series will be played at the Adelaide Oval, potentially taking place on a Sunday night.

While most of the fan support has condemned the NRL for taking the game away from NSW and Queensland, coaches of both sides are excited for the game to head to Adelaide.

Especially NSW coach Brad Fittler, who is already firing shots at Queensland trying to sway the Adelaide support the way of NSW.

"I got no doubt it will be a success and a sell-out," Fittler said.

"We should get most of the home support, the Minister for Sport (Leon Bignell) had a broken rib care of Kevin Walter's brother Kerrod.

"So if we get any influence there we should be able to turn this stadium blue."

South Australian Minister for Sport Leon Bignell, is more than confident the game will be a hit with both the interstate travelling fans and also the AFL-mad town.

"People here in South Australia will go to see anything at the Adelaide Oval because it's one of the best stadiums in the world," South Australian Minister for Sport Leon Bignell said.

"It's not too far to go, we've got plenty of planes coming in and out of Sydney and Brisbane."

The Minster, however, shot down any rumblings of a potential Adelaide team joining the NRL.

"We're not ready to have a team yet," Minister Bignell said.

With three games outside of NSW and Queensland scheduled for the next three years, Queensland won't hold two home fixtures until 2021.

Meanwhile, the next time NSW will hold two matches at home will be in 2022, unless the NRL continues the around the nation tour on the back of a successful foray into Perth and Adelaide.

The event will reportedly be a big boost to all three states economies, generating more than $15 million for just one game in the series.
