The ‘hunt’ is well and truly on for Broncos halfback Ben Hunt with Penrith reportedly entering the race to secure the talented number seven.

Following Josh Massoud’s report on Channel Seven Sydney on Tuesday that St George-Illawarra had tabled a massive offer to secure the star, C7 counterpart Chris Garry in Queensland understands Anthony Griffin, who was Hunt’s old coach at Brisbane, wants him at the foot of the mountains.

“FIRST on @7NewsQueensland - Penrith Panthers pursuing BEN HUNT with Anthony Griffin wanting him back. Penrith more likely than dragons,” tweeted Chris Garry.

If Penrith were to snare the rep star it would certainly give Griffin plenty of options in the halves.

The good form of last year’s halves combo Bryce Cartwright and Nathan Cleary led the team into the finals. While young gun Te Maire Martin, who has recovered from a major shoulder injury is also in the wings.
