Panthers Need To Overcome The Weight Of History To Make The Finals

While they were originally touted the premiership favourites, it seems like it might all be over for the Panthers this year.

According to stats, no team coming from a 2 - 7 win to loss ratio has made the grand final, let alone won it.

In fact, just two teams have made the finals from this start, being the Eels in 2006 and Broncos in 1999.

It's been reported that the Panthers will need to win 10 of their remaining 15 games to make the finals this year - and it's never a good sign when you have to ration your form slumps after such an average start to the season.

For the Panthers, it was a case of napping through the first stanza and leaving the charge against the Broncos too late.

Although they managed to pile on 18 points in as many minutes, the slow start hindered any real threat to the Broncos in Brisbane.

This seems to be a bit of a trend for the Panthers, who have failed to score a try in the first half for their last three games. 

Against the Sharks they weren't held to nil, but managed to post a penalty goal.
