Parramatta Eels legend Brett Kenny has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.

Kenny, 56, underwent scans which confirmed the news. However, he is unsure the extent of the cancer.

However, it's understood he'll start chemotherapy this week.

The legendary 5/8 was a part of the Eels team that dominated the 80s. His lethal combination with halves partner Peter Sterling led the club to four premierships (1981, 82, 83 and 86).

He is considered one of Parramatta’s greatest ever players.

He was also a legend at NSW and Australian levels too. His record was incredible in Origin and was a part of the 1982 and '86 Kangaroo 'Invincibles' amongst plenty of other achievements. Watch the video below.
