Rugby league bad boy Willis Meehan will join NRL club Parramatta to train and play reserve grade with the club in 2017.

Meehan, who was sacked by the Roosters last year, will not be able to play NRL this season but can represent the Eels' feeder-club Wentworthville in NSW Cup.

The 21-year-old forward, who has been before the courts twice for assault cases, had a contract with Manly in the off-season before he quit the sport to focus on boxing.

Meehan, who made his NRL debut for the Roosters in 2014 and also has a career in boxing, was dumped by the Sydney Roosters in 2015 over a charge of assaulting a taxi driver for which he was later convicted.

A former Australian schoolboys representative, he had previously been placed on a good behaviour bond for headbutting a man and stealing his watch near The Star Casino in April last year.
