Triple M's Paul Kent has had his final say on his clash with Wayne Bennett this week, insisting that his story is correct and true.

The feud with Bennett broke out during the week after Kent claimed that Benji Marshall had spoken about Anthony Milford's poor training form.

Marshall told Ben Ikin, who is a colleague of Kent at Fox Sports, and Kent made comments alluding to this conversation on NRL 360 late in the week.

Bennett then hit back, claiming that the journalist made up the story and that the player in question (Marshall) had not spoken to the media. Listen to the full exchange below.

Speaking on Triple M Sunday NRL, Kent said that his version of events has been proven true by former Broncos Darren Lockyer, who had a similar opinion of Milford's training efforts.

"I took offence to Wayne saying the journalist made it up, because I didn't make it up," Kent said.

"Darren Lockyer came out in the paper yesterday and said that Milford was a poor trainer, and while he didn't go as far as I did , he's got a vested interest as a board member at the Broncos.

"I would've let it go except he (Bennett) went one step too far in saying that I made it up.

"The story has since been proven correct by Benji and Darren Lockyer.

"Wayne's issues are elsewhere.

"A lot of fans out there now are sitting there saying 'Paul Kent you're a dickhead'. Just because I've come up against Bennett and it's me on the other side - and I know it's a case of a guppy taking on a whale - but that doesn't mean that what I know is not legitimate."

Kent said that the fact that this story has blown up to such proportions is reflective of the fact that rugby league is a "soap opera for men", and that the real story this week was the loss of Brett Kimmorley's wife Sharnie to cancer.

"Jason Taylor getting sacked is unfortunate, but it's not a tragedy," Kent said.

"Wayne Bennett carrying on like Clint Eastwood with his pants up high isn't the real story - it's Brett Kimmorley. That's the real story. That's the tragedy."
