It was a close game and a try to the Dragons with a minute on the clock looked to put the momentum back in the Dragons' favour.

After powering through with a barnstorming opening, the loss of Gareth Widdop proved to be the difference, with the Roosters getting back into the game as the Dragons struggled to reshuffle.

"Their game management really let them down," Triple M's Paul Gallen said.

Despite going into golden point 12 - 12, it was a Mitchell Pearce field goal which nailed the win for the Roosters.

And it was a whopper. Check out the kick below.

"That's gone over the crossbar and into the seats several rows back," Triple M's Dan Ginnane said.

Pearce's last successful field goal in the NRL was in 2011, with Triple M and Fox Sports' James Hooper reporting that he's had a massive 18 successive missed attempts.
