As a part of the Blues coaching staff this year, it's understandable that Peter Sterling would be quite upset with the second half of Wednesday night's game.

Speaking on Triple M Saturday NRL, Triple M's Sterlo said that the reason NSW lost is because they moved away from the game plan.

"I've been gutted - I don't think I've spoken to anyone in two days," Sterlo said.

"The most disappointing thing for me, in all the post-mortem - and you can look at all the different individual things, but the most disappointing thing was that we went away from what had been successful for us for a game and a half.

"At the beginning of camp on day one, we put forward a philosophy or a belief in what we do when we have the football and and when we don't have the football. And that is based around trust. If you have a look at the situations where we got into trouble, that wasn't evident.

"That's the most disappointing thing for me, and that's what we need to find out - why it wasn't there.

"If you go back and look at those tries we did concede, we did contribute to those tries.

"The most important thing is for the players to remember what those final ten or 15 minutes felt like. You don't ever want to put yourself in that position again.

"We've played something like 160 minutes of football, and I think we've been behind for something like eight or nine minutes. Unfortunately, three of those minutes were at the end of a game.

"However, the sun did come up on Thursday morning and nobody died."
