Newly appointed South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold is set to overhaul they Rabbitohs playing style after a steep decline since winning the 2014 Premiership under Michael Maguire.

Seibold told NRL 360, he will use game like scenarios mixed with sports science to improve the struggling Rabbitohs.

“There’s some changes we’ll make to our preparation and our approach,” Seibold told NRL 360.

“We’re going to really dive into what is called a tactical periodisation approach. It’s using game scenarios and diving into the sports science side of things as far as spending different parts of sessions above game speed and so on.

“If you look at the way the Rabbitohs played over the past two years in particular, when under pressure and fatigue is when errors occurred.

“We need to make sure our approach is really specific going forward and that’s one of the major changes we’ll have.

Seibold also noted getting key playmakers on the ball more often is key area for improvement over pre-season.

“The other thing I want to look at is our game model," he said.

"There’s some key areas particularly around our attack where myself and (assistant coach) David Furner spoken at length about some slight changes.

"Particularly around getting the best ballplayers in our team, which is Adam Reynolds, Cody Walker and Greg Inglis on the ball a little bit more.”
