Canberra's finals hopes are hanging by a thread but captain Jarrod Croker believes the current squad can push for a premiership.

The 26-year-old goal-kicking centre has extended his contract with the Raiders until the end of the 2020 season.

"To be able to lead this club it's one thing but to lead them to a premiership is at the top of my list," Croker said.

"We've got the squad here to push for that."

Croker is the latest key player the Green Machine have locked in beyond next year, joining Joey Leilua, Jordan Rapana and Jack Wighton in signing new deals this season.

Coach Ricky Stuart is also signed until the end of 2020.

Locking in their stars has coincided with a tough year for the Raiders, who have performed below expectations and sit two games outside the top eight with four matches to play.

"We could have easily fallen out of the back door," Croker said.

"We've had a lot of tough losses and we could have easily fallen away but with the culture and the club we have here we've stuck it out."

Croker declared he wants to be a Raiders player for life, saying there was no discussions with other clubs.

"Ever since I put on the green jersey in under-15s I never wanted to put on another one," he said.

Croker's signature is a boost for Canberra ahead of their must-win clash with the Warriors in Auckland on Sunday.

"We're still here in round 23 and we're still fighting," Croker said.

The Warriors have come under heavy scrutiny after losing their past five matches, while the Raiders have strung back-to-back wins together.
