In breaking player signing news, Jack Bird could make a decision on his playing future as early as today, reports The Daily Telegraph sports reporter Matt Logue

"I'm told the @brisbanebroncos are expecting a decision from @Cronulla_Sharks star Jack Bird today," tweeted Logue.

The Broncos emerged as a surprise contender for Jack Bird, with the Brisbane superclub joining the Knights and Sharks in the race to land the playmaker.

Earlier, Triple M's Brent Read from the Australian reported the Broncos originally planned to wait a year after Ben Hunt departed to make a play for one of the Gold Coast's halves - Ash Taylor or Kane Elgey.

Instead, the other option has emerged of partnering Bird with Anthony Milford in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have reportedly reminded Bird that he's emerged as a rep player and won a title with the club - something which would fall away at the Knights.

Newcastle's play for Bird is a big bucks deal, with the side eager to rebuild around him.

It's likely that Bird will make a decision next week.
