The Warriors are believed to have targeted Wallabies star Israel Folau, reports Rugby League Week.

“The big-spending Warriors have set their sights on one of world rugby’s biggest names for 2018 – Israel Folau,” reports RLW’s The Mole.

Indeed, the Warriors are one of the richest clubs in the league. They have huge amounts of money. If there is one club that is able to buy Israel Folau (financially alone) it is the New Zealand Warriors.

The former Storm and Broncos speedster joined rugby union in 2013 and has taken to the Waratahs by storm, becoming one of rugby union's highest paid players.

It’s understood Israel Folau, 27, at one stage, was comfortable returning to the NRL but former NRL boss Dave Smith would only have him back if he joined a struggling club like Gold Coast.

The Warriors, grand finalists in 2002 and 2011, boast one of the best rosters in the NRL - with halfback Shaun Johnson and fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck among the most dynamic stars in the competition.

Kieran Foran committed to the Warriors on a one-year deal for the 2017 season, after leaving Parramatta in July due to personal issues.

But there is no guarantee he will return to the NRL because of off-field issues.
