It's quickly becoming one of the big stories of the year, with Laurie Daley's coaching future dominating the headlines in the aftermath of the 2017 Origin series.

While NSWRL has denied that any real progress has been made in sorting out the matter while they conduct their review, it's been reported by smh.com.au that Daley indicated in front of the NSWRL board that he's eager to have another shot.

The review is apparently expected to take a month, so it's unlikely that we'll get a definitive answer any time soon.

NSWRL Chairman Doctor George Peponis placed emphasis on the thoroughness of this review, and reiterated that time is not a factor in making the decision.

"We didn't make any decisions," Peponis said, reports Fairfax Media.

"We're doing the review. There's a lot more to be done. It's only 10 days since origin and you can't do a comprehensive review in three to four days, and it is going to be comprehensive.

"We've only just started it. Laurie and Troddo (CEO Dave Trodden) and BJ (Football Manager BJ Mather) were in there today. But we want to talk to a lot more people involved in the campaign. That'll be done over the next several weeks. Once we have done that, we will make a recommendation then."
