Is he to blame?

Newcastle coach Nathan Brown has just nine games to save his position at the struggling Knights, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

“Nathan Brown has nine games to prove he should be retained as Knights coach... with boss Brian McGuigan labelling the team’s performance on the weekend a "catastrophe", after they were thrashed 33-12 by Wests Tigers.

Triple M’s Richard Freedman said it was unfair to blame the coach.

“You can’t train winners if you haven’t got the cattle,” said Freedman, on Triple M’s Dead Set Legends.

“He’s doing his best with what he’s got. He’s got a few good players there and they’re all trying really hard.

“I just think it’s pretty harsh on Browny.”
