There’s never a quiet day in rugby league and yesterday it was Matt Moylan and the Penrith Panthers.

There has been speculation for quite a while that Matt Moylan has been unsettled at Penrith and clubs were circling.

It’s been revealed that Cronulla is looking at making a deal to lure the former NSW Origin playmaker to the Shire, reports www.foxsports.com.au.

“I was told - and I spoke to (Sharks coach) Shane Flanagan about this - there was a very good chance and opportunity that there could be a swap deal (with Moylan and [James] Maloney),” said The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield, on Fox Sports' NRL 360.

"We all know Maloney wants more money, longer term... Shane Flanagan has always said he will let Maloney go if he can find the right replacement.”

Fox Sports' Paul Kent added that Moylan is unhappy at Penrith.

“My understanding is essentially he’s had a falling out with the coach Anthony Griffin, that he’s not happy there, there’s a bit of a split within the camp against the coach,” said Paul Kent.

Following speculation the 26-year-old was on the outer at Penrith, Panthers boss Phil Gould said Moylan had struggled with the pressure of captaincy and form but is committed long-term to the club.

"Right from the first words that came out of his mouth today, Matt was 100 per cent committed to the club," Gould said.

"He loves the club, loves the Panthers, and wants to be here for the rest of his career. We signed him for five years only 12 months ago and we certainly want that to be the case.

"We'll do everything in our power to make that possible for him."
