There are reports Singapore has thrown its hat into the ring to host a future State of Origin game.

“The Origin product is so very tribal around NSW and Queensland that it would be a big statement to make if we were to go overseas with one, not that I’m saying we wouldn’t consider it,” NRL boss Todd Greenberg told www.dailytelegraph.com.au.

“Singapore Sports Hub has been very consistent about their desire for elite content. They are very engaged. The time zones (Singapore is two hours behind AEST time) are pretty good.

“We have a lot of interest from North America, not so much Origin, as for premiership games.”

The recently renovated Singapore Sports Hub holds 55,000 people.

Earlier, Townsville put in a bid to host a State of Origin match in 2020,

The NRL has not made a decision on where Origin will be played in 2020.
