Channel 9's Erin Molan has alluded to a twist in the Josh Papalii story, with reports that the Raiders are concerned by the events which resulted in Papalii getting into his car.
On the evening of the incident, teammate Jarrod Croker was having an engagement party, and it was originally reported that Papalii was driving home from the party when he phoned the police twice to dob himself in for drink driving.
Speaking on WSFM's Jonesy and Amanda, Molan revealed that Papalii was not driving home from the engagement party, but left his house to go out driving while intoxicated.
“I would never, ever condone it, but I know a lot of people at the Raiders fairly well,” Molan said..
“I’m trying to put this so it’s not too controversial, but the Raiders I know are much more concerned about the reason why he had to leave his place. He wasn’t leaving Jarrod Crocker, the captain’s, engagement party.
“He was already at home. And he had to leave home and the Raiders are very concerned as to why he had to leave home.
“So he had to leave home and then he called the police. I do not condone driving drunk, but there are other things at play. There are bigger things at play.”
This afternoon, Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga made the decision to drop Papalii from the Australian side for the ANZAC test.
Shannon Boyd will reportedly slip in as Papalii's replacement.
