Sydney Roosters fullback Michael Gordon will miss up to eight weeks in the NRL after suffering a pectoral injury.

The 33-year-old was injured in the final 10 minutes of the 14-12 win over South Sydney at Allianz Stadium on Friday.

Gordon is set to regain fitness at the end of the home-and-away season ahead of a likely finals campaign for the third-placed Roosters, who have a bye this weekend.

He has played in all 17 games this season, scoring six tries with five assists.

While also being a solid performer at fullback, goalkicker Gordon leads the competition for points in 2017.

His absence will likely see a backline reshuffle, with centre Latrell Mitchell or playmaker Connor Watson candidates to fill the Roosters No.1 jersey.
