He was banned from the game for four years after taking and trafficking performance-enhancing substances, and now Sandor Earl is ready to make a comeback into the NRL.

Following in the footsteps of Jarryd Hayne when he tried to crack the NFL, Earl has started a documentary of his process in making it back into first grade.

While this doesn't have quite the same production values, the first few episodes published on YouTube. Check out the teaser below.

Earl's ban officially ends on August 29, so technically he could make an appearance if signed with a club for a finals run.

More realistically, we might be seeing him in 2018.

He has 48 games under his belt from across his career at the Roosters, Panthers and Raiders before the ban.

For the 27-year-old, it's mostly a case of wanting to be remembered for more than the ASADA problem.

"I want to go out on my own terms," Earl told smh.com.au earlier in the year.
