Tim Simona has reportedly been offered another chance as an athlete, with rugby union side West Harbour giving him a chance in the Shute Shield.

According to dailytelegraph.com.au, the West Harbour boss Geoff Threlfo has said that the club is willing to give Simona a run, depending on it getting cleared by the board.

Threlfo has been in touch with Simona's manager Isaac Moses, and he could end up playing this year with the Shute Shield starting next weekend.

“He wouldn’t be paid — it’s just an opportunity to play football," Threlfo said.

“We’d have to get it cleared by the Sydney rugby union but everyone deserves a second chance."

Further away from home, two French rugby clubs have also apparently shown interest in Simona.

The former Wests Tigers player was banned indefinitely from the NRL after admitting to betting on games and his involvement in a charity jersey scam.
