A lot of the talk surrounding Origin III has concerned who will replace Johnathan Thurston for QLD.

Melbourne's Cameron Smith and coach Craig Bellamy have hailed Cam Munster as the logical choice, especially given his combination with Cooper Cronk, Smith and Slater.

"With JT (Thurston) not being there now and being such a big game there's no doubt having Cameron there inside Cooper, Billy and myself would help," Smith said.

"On his performance and ability Cameron is more than up to playing Origin there is no doubt about it.

"Whether he gets an opportunity next week I am not sure, but he certainly didn't do his chances any harm - he was very good."

Bellamy echoed this sentiment.

"I don't want to be telling QLD what they should be doing, but he has done a great job in that position - do you want to move him away from that position?" Bellamy said.

"If it's a choice between centre and five-eighth, I'd say five-eighth but he's not going to let you down wherever you put him."
