2017 RLPA NYC Player of the Year Harry Grant turned into an instant lifesaver after coming to the rescue of two women during the festive period.

Back in his hometown of Port Macquarie, NSW, Grant and his father Paul quickly spurred into action after seeing the women needed help.

"My son and I know the beaches in Port Macquarie fairly well, and we had just gone down for a swim when we noticed two women in dire need of help," Paul told Port News.

"As soon as it was obvious that no-one else was going to help, Harry, a rugby player, jumped into the water and swam out to help.

"Thankfully it was all over within a matter of minutes but it could have had some really bad consequences if no-one had stepped in to help."

The 19-year-old Dummy Half is in his first season as part of the NRL squad at the Melbourne Storm, after captaining their Holden Cup side in 2017.
