Fijian and Melbourne Storm winger Suliasi Vunivalu is a shock contender for the 'Golden Boot', awarded to the world's best Rugby League Player for 2017.

The 22-year old premiership winner, scored 23 tries in the NRL and added a further 10 for Fiji during their World Cup campaign.

Vunivalu joins fellow Storm teammate Cameron Smith, Cowboys wrecking ball Jason Taumalolo and Englishman Jermaine McGillvary as the four nominees for the prestigious award.

Meanwhile, Smith could join the likes of Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer and Johnathan Thurston in becoming a two-time winner of the award.
