Roosters CEO Joe Kelly has been handed a nine-month suspension for his role in the Manly salary cap scandal.

According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, NRL boss Todd Greenberg has this morning told Kelly of the suspension, with Greenberg to hold a press conference at 12pm today addressing the situation.

It is understood that there were breaches uncovered after the NRL's investigation into match-fixing.

While the betting claims were reportedly unfounded, 'suspicious payments' were uncovered dating back a period of three years.

Kelly was chief executive at Manly for three years before making the move to the Roosters last year.

There is speculation that Manly could be fined around the million dollar mark.

As they are now compliant with the salary cap, competition points would not be docked for this year.

More to come.
