It was only last month, reports filtered through Cameron Smith is set to sign on for one more season with the Storm and aim to become the first player to enter the 400-game club.
However, following the Storm's Preliminary final win over the Sharks suggestions started to flutter that Smith would retire at season's end.
On Triple M Saturday NRL a conspiracy theory was brought up as to why these rumours occurred.
