NSW could be on the verge of losing yet again to Queensland who are ready to swoop in and steal the NRL Grand Final for good.

According to the dailytelegrpah.com.au, it's believed NSW minister for major events Stuart Ayres is lobbying for Allianz Stadium to be prioritised in the stadium war, which will see the redevelopment of ANZ Stadium pushed back several years.

If Ayres manages to get his way, the 20-year agreement for Sydney to host the NRL's biggest day of the year will become null and void, with the Grand Final to go to the highest bidder from 2020.

Ayres' Queensland counterpart, Kate Jones, told the Daily Telegraph Queensland are ready to step in.

"We've invested $750 million on events since coming into government," she told the Daily Telegraph

"I've said to Todd Greenberg Queensland has consistently demonstrated our passionate fans turn up to games in huge numbers throughout the year."

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will make a hopefully make a decision by the end of the year.
