When the likes of Matt Scott and Johnathan Thurston went down for the Cowboys, most expected Cowboys coach Paul Green to turn Jason Taumalolo into an 80-miniute leader.

However, Green resisted the urge and instead turned Taumalolo into wrecking-ball second-half machine spurring the Cowboys to be within one game of the NRL Grand Final.

Thanks to the statisticians at NRL.com, the true destructiveness of Jason Taumalolo, especially in the second-half is a major factor in their run the to the Finals.

When Taumalolo is sitting on the pine in the second half the Cowboys have scored 62 points and conceded 60, a point differential of +2.

However, when 'JT' is running rampant on-field that statistic changes drastically to 173 points scored and 118 against, for a points differential of +55.

Not only that, but Taumalolo leads the league as the competitions biggest metre eater, running 4970 metres in 2017 at an average of 207 metres per game. 'JT' is whopping 388 metres clear of the second best, Paul Gallen, in the overall statistic.

In the two finals fixtures alone, Taumalolo has amassed a ridiculous 501 metres already and will be looking to add another 200+ on the way to potentially securing the Cowboys a second Grand Final berth in three years.
