Jason Taylor has confirmed that rookie Moses Suli is set to make his NRL debut on the wing, with Jordan Rankin dropping out of the original 21-man squad named on Tuesday.

While a rookie progressing to first grade isn't normally an earth shattering news story, it's the circumstances of Suli's tenure at the Tigers which makes this a pretty significant event.

Suli is yet to play a NSW Cup or complete a NYC game, and he's the highest paid player after inking a $1.3 million contract extension recently.

According to smh.com.au, Suli was also chased by the Bulldogs and the Storm, despite the rookie failing to finish his two NYC appearances due to a back injury.

The young gun got a call-up in the Nines, and he obviously impressed JT, who picked him ahead of utility Jordan Rankin.

Suli will be on the wing, with new recruit Jamal Idris named to play in the centres.
