A lot of fake news

There's been a lot of press speculation about the state of Des Hasler's career at the Bulldogs, and after the Bulldogs slumped to another loss this round - a 36 - 0 walloping at the hands of Manly - it seems like it's a story that won't go away any time soon.

The status of Des' future beyond this season has largely been unclear, with mixed reports about deals being completed.

In fact, according to Triple M and Fox Sports' James Hooper, these assertions are a long way from the truth.

“Des’ manager and Raelene Castle have been in discussion for 18 months," Hoops said.

"As it stands at the moment, Des does’t have a deal for next year and he wants one.

"There was a report last week that there was a deal signed but they were waiting for a couple of wins before announcing it. I’m certain that's not the case”

While it's a frustrating period for the Bulldogs and their fans, Des' record isn't that bad - a point which Triple M's Peter Sterling raised.

"Most clubs would be pretty happy to have that sort of record," Sterlo said.

However, the issue stems from the way that management is operating with Des, as it appears that he has supreme control and the administration is frustrated that he's not delivering better results since he is in charge.

"That’s the criticism from the board - Des has been given everything he’s wanted," Hoops said.
