In one of the big moments of the opening clash of the finals, the Roosters have managed to pull off a bloody fantastic win against the Broncos.

This means the Roosters will progress to just one win away from the grand final, with the Broncos getting a second chance next weekend.

With just minutes on the clock, Latrell Mitchell managed to cross for a brilliant try - but it was the lead up to the try that was the real spectacle, with James Roberts sent flying.

"You just got the feeling there was going to be another turn in this one - what a play from the young Latrell Mitchell," Girds said.

"He's had a torrid time against James Roberts in the past.

"It was Greg Inglis-like, fending him off.

"Is this the play that takes the Roosters through to the qualifying final?

"He got Roberts going backwards beaches of the speed of Keary coming off the line."
