The departure of Cooper Cronk will leave massive shoes to fill at the Storm, and there's talk that this could be the bloke to do the job.

While there was a bid for Anthony Milford and James Maloney's name has also been tossed around, according to Triple M and the Australian's Brent Read, it seems as though young Brodie Croft may be in the mix. Listen to the full report below.

"They've been linked a little bit with James Maloney, who still has a year on his contract," Ready said.

"I spoke with Cronulla today and they said that there's an offer on the table and they're in talks with James Maloney about extending him.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Melbourne keep their powder dry. At the curtain-raiser here (at the ANZAC test) Brodie Croft was the junior Kangaroos' captain.

"He's a young halfback down there and has been likened to Cooper Cronk.

"As I understand it, even if they'd landed Anthony Milford, Croft would be halfback and Milford would be five-eighth and they would've moved Cameron Munster."

Craig Bellamy is known to have a magic touch when it comes to crafting careers, and the fact that Croft won Man of the Match for the clash between the junior Roos and Kiwis goes to show that he'll have plenty to work with.
