Speaking on the Triple M call team, Triple M and the Australian's Brent Read has revealed that history may repeat itself, with the Bulldogs looking to Manly for some coaching inspiration.
"Now, if you listen on the grapevine, Canterbury are very interested in Trent Barrett to become their coach next year," Ready said.
"There's been some talk that maybe Trent could get more money elsewhere than what he's on at Manly.
"Manly want to keep him. He's got a year to go on his deal.
"Canterbury basically have until 1 November to make a decision on Des. On 1 November, the football cap will come into effect. Whatever severance pay they give Des Hasler - and the suggestion is that it's a million dollars - that will go into their football cap.
"The football cap is only $5.7 million, or thereabouts.
"So basically, it gives them eight weeks to make a call on Des Hasler."
