Let's be honest, there was A LOT of hype about the signing of Jarryd Hayne last season.

But the Titans have got a fresh reason to be in the news, with the revelation by goldcoastbulletin.com.au that the club will be putting out a backline that is a whopping 50kgs heavier than the reigning Premiers.

It's looking like fitness permitting, Hayne (100kgs) will be slotting in at fullback, Konrad Hurrell (104kgs) and Dan Sarginson (95kgs) will be at centre, while Daniel Vidot (108kgs), Nathan Davis (105kgs) and Anthony Don will battle it out for a spot on the wing.

And several of these blokes started the preseason with an extra 4kgs to what's been listed above.

To put this in perspective, the Sharks backline options of Sosaia Feki, Jack Bird, Val Holmes, Ricky Leutele and Gerard Beale only have one player cracking the 95kg mark.

Given the changing stature of the typical backline player over the last ten years and the rise of the big boppers (think Lote Tuqiri or Edrick Lee), this should be a real advantage for the Titans going into this season.
