The Triple M Saturday NRL boys have discussed the situation at Souths, following their upset win against the Dragons at the SCG on Friday night.

According to Triple M and Fox Sports' James Hooper, a lot of the squad are walking wounded, with Sam Burgess nursing a rib injury and Angus Crichton playing with a stress fracture in his foot - an injury he's been carrying for the last six weeks.

"The Roosters have taken a real approach of caution with Boyd Cordner. A ‘safety first approach’. It does surprise me with Souths," Hoops said.

"Take Sam Burgess. He’s playing at the moment with busted ribs and they can’t make the finals."

Triple M's Ryan Girdler said that Sam Burgess has such an important role at Souths, that it's imperative to have him in the side even when he's injured in order to assist the many youngsters transition into first grade.

"I think Sam realises how important he is on and off the field," Girds said.

"He loves that club. Imagine if all of a sudden he’s not playing or training. He’s a paid professional and he might be in a little bit of pain and it might be beneficial to give him a break but they’re not in a position where they can rest him."

"Crichton is going to be a future captain of the club. I’m so impressed with that bloke," Dell said.
