The USA won its first gold medal at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games today, with Red Gerard taking out the men’s slopestyle.

However, ‘men’s’ is probably an inaccurate qualifier in this instance, as Gerard has won the event at the age of 17.

Gerard was born on the 29th of June 2000, which means two things:

1) He’s still three and a half years from being able to legally buy beer in his home country

2) Everyone reading this suddenly feels extremely old.

Gerard won gold by pulling off a Backside triple cork 1440, which scored him 87.16 points.

The colour of his medal was confirmed when the brilliantly named Canadian Max Parrot could only get 86.00, leaving him in second.
