UFC Welterweight Jake Matthew's was involved in an ugly incident during his fight with Chinese fighter Li Jingliang at UFC 221 in Perth.
Matthew's was looking for a submission finish to his fight, but was eye gouged by his oponent which forced the 23-year-old Victorian to release the hold.
Despite the referee on hand clearly seeing the incident occur, no point was deducted from the Chinese fighter.
However, it was Matthew's post-fight speech that showed the class of the 'Celtic kid'.
"It was in the heat of the fight," Matthews said.
"You don’t realise this stuff, it is what it is. No hard feelings."
Well said Jake!
