Australia has performed extremely well at the 2017 World Dwarf Games being held in Ontario, Canada.

Travelling with only a 29-member team, Australia managed to claim a whopping total of 60 medals, including 35 gold, to finish in fourth place on the medal tally.

The United States claimed top honours, albeit with a 125-member team, followed by the UK and Canada.

The Aussies dominated the pool, claiming an astonishing 16 gold medals, along with three silver and a bronze.

Like the Olympics, the World Dwarf Games run in a four year cycle, with this year's being the 7th instalment of the prestigious event.

There is currently no word on who is hosting the next Games in 2021.
