Bernard Tomic has failed to qualify for the Australian Open, eliminated by Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the deciding qualifier.

Tomic was completely outplayed in the first set going down 6-1 but rallied in the second, winning the tiebreaker 7-6.

The 25-year-old would lose a tight third and final set 6-4.

This will be the first time in nine years the 25-year-old has failed to appear in the main draw at Melbourne Park.

The World No. 143 was denied a Wildcard entry by Tennis Australia and forced to qualify for the main draw after a disastrous 2017, where he was fined $15,000 for admitting to faking an injury because he was bored at Wimbledon.

Tomic is reportedly set to feature on the latest series of Channel 10's I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
