Conor McGregor has reportedly handed himself into police after his alleged attack on a bus full of UFC fighters in New York on Thursday night.

The MMA fighter was filmed trying to throw several items at the departing bus, including a metal dolly which ultimately smashed a window.

Fighter Michael Chiesa, who was on the bus, was reportedly hospitalised with lacerations to his face as a result of the attack.

According to TMZ, McGregor has been charged with two counts of misdemeanour assault - one of those for the injury to Chiesa - and one count of felony criminal mischief.

With a warrant out for his arrest, it was only a matter of time before McGregor was in police custody, with UFC president Dana White explaining that there was no way he would be leaving New York.

"They're looking for him right now," White said earlier tonight. "His plane cannot take off, he cannot leave the state of New York with this warrant.

"He'll be grounded. I'm assuming, eventually, if they don't catch him, he'll turn himself in.

"I imagine he's going to be sued beyond belief and... this is a real bad career move for him."

The incident now puts McGregor's return to the UFC later this year in serious doubt.
