ESPN caller Teddy Atlas has slammed the decision to award Jeff Horn the win over Manny Pacquiao, even telling Horn in an interview "I thought you lost".

Horn landed a huge win over Pacquiao in Brisbane, capturing the WBO welterweight championship.

Atlas didn't bother hiding how he really felt.

"They gave a trophy, a win, a huge win, to Horn, the local kid, for trying hard!" he said after the fight.

"You're not supposed to get it for trying hard! You're supposed to get it for winning!

"And I thought Pacquiao won the fight if you go by the rules."

He had no problem telling Horn exactly that in an interview.

"Congratulations. Great effort. I thought you lost," he said.

"But great effort."

He later gave some stick to the judges for the decision.

"It's only one of two things, it's either incompetence or corruption," he said.

"I don't think anyone could be that incompetent. I'm sorry. If you know this sport, you watch this sport, you can't be that incompetent. You see who's landed clean, who's just thrown, who's not landing clean, who almost got knocked out. You can't be that incompetent.

"So what else could it be? Corruption. Nothing else. I'm sorry, I love this sport, it's the greatest sport in the world...but that decision stunk."
