The bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been delayed due to pay per view outages.

Showtime confirmed in a statement that the main event had to be pushed back "slightly".

"Due to high demand, we have reports of scattered outages from various cable and satellite provides and the online offering," they said.

"We will delay the start of the main event slightly to allow for systems to get on track.

"We do not expect a lengthy delay."

No exact time has yet been given for the fight.

Reporters at the venue have been told the fight has been pushed back due to streaming issues and outages with the pay-per-view service.

ESPN reported the news was to allow PPV services to reboot.
