Geelong’s list manager Stephen Wells appeared on AFL Trade Radio this afternoon and discussed the link between the Cats and Melbourne’s Jack Watts.

Wells said that Geelong would be “unlikely” to be able to get a deal done to get Watts to the Cattery.

“It’s good that Jack has some interest in Geelong as one of his potential suitors, and we certainly are interested in Jack, but we certainly haven’t committed to Jack,” Wells said.

“We haven’t offered him a contract or committed to trying to do a trade for him.

“We’ve met with Jack as an information gathering exercise and our conversations with both Jack, Paul Connors, and also then with the Melbourne footy club, we’ve had to say at the moment we are unlikely to do a deal for Jack to come to Geelong.

“But that doesn’t mean we won’t see something change in that regard in the next week or so, but yeah we haven’t offered Jack a contract at this stage.”

The news that Watts is unlikely to get to Geelong leaves just Port Adelaide and Sydney in serious pursuit of the Dees forward.
