Next time you stub your toe and can't quite believe how you'll ever recover, spare a thought for this poor bloke.

The Muay Thai fighter known only as Jeremy copped a brutal blow to the head during a bout at the Patong Stadium last Monday, fracturing his skull and leaving him with a nasty, hollowed-out dent.

Jonny Betts, who trains at the Tiger Muay Thai gym in Phuket with Jeremy, posted photos of his injuries to Facebook and revealed that, unbelievably, Jeremy wanted to keep going.

"It happened in a professional Muay Thai fight at a local stadium," Betts said. "His Thai opponent landed a big elbow strike that caused the injury.

"He was fine, though. He wasn't wobbling and kept fighting, but the referee stopped the fight to get a doctor to look at the injury and the doctor obviously stopped right away.

Betts also confirmed that Jeremy had successfully undergone surgery over the weekend and was already on the road to recovery.

"Jeremy is now out of hospital following the surgery to fix up the fracture with a titanium plate," he said in a follow-up post. "No brain injury and he was never even dizzy."

What a legend.

If you're keen, you can see the exact moment that nasty elbow strike went amiss in the video below.
