An Olympic speed skater has been accused of sabotage after he appeared to grab at his rival's skateĀ as he took a tumble on the ice.

Jong Kwang Bom, a 17-year-old from North Korea, crashed just seconds into a short track preliminary heat, prompting officials to restart the race.

But video from the original race seems to show Jong reaching out to hold onto Japanese opponent Ryosuke Sakazume's left skate in a move that has been labelled sabotage by viewers.

What's even more questionable is that, in the second attempt, it looked like Jong was having another crack at taking Sakazume down, bumping into and pushing him before he fell again.

While Jong was officially disqualified for the shove, Sakazume was fairly diplomatic about the whole thing when talking to the press afterwards.

"I believe it was unintentional," he said. "His hand happened to be by my skate as he fell down."
