Conor McGregor is set to be stripped of his UFC Lightweight World title for the second time, according to reports in Russia.

Russian news site Tass, is reporting McGregor will be stripped of the title with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov to fight in April to crown a new Undisputed UFC Lightweight champion.

McGregor hasn't competed in the UFC since his second-round knockout of Eddie Alvarez in November 2016.

UFC President Dana White only recently hinted at this possibility during the UFC's event in St. Louis this past weekend.

"I don’t think Conor wants to fight until August, but if he waits until August or September, that’s around two years since the belt has been defended, and that can’t happen," White told reporters.

"Not only to the sport, but to the other fighters.

"This is game of time. Time is your enemy in this sport, or any other sport."

The announcement is expected to be made during this weekend's UFC 220 PPV in Boston.
