WWE could be bringing a pay-per-view event down to Australia for the first time in 16 years.

Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported WWE officials are considering bringing back the Global Warning pay-per-view next year.

It would be the first time the PPV has been held here since 2002, when a whopping 56,734 people flocked to Etihad Stadium to see it.

According to the report, WWE is aiming even bigger than that this time.

It suggests WWE has discussed running Global Warning II in October next year at the MCG, which has a capacity of over 100,000.

The MCG's availability could prove to be a sticking point, with the venue almost constantly in use between AFL and cricket seasons.

The report says WWE wants to broadcast the event on PPV and on the WWE Network and that things are headed in the right direction.
