UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker has taken aim at UFC fighters who miss weight in an interview on Triple M's The Weekend Legends.

"It is very hard to cut weight, probably one of the hardest things," Whittaker told Triple M.

"But you're doing a job.

"When we get our contracts, like 12 weeks out, it says; you need to fight at this date, at this time and under this weight.

"And for the people who are missing the weight, you can't do that.

"It's in the contract to make the weight, you signed that and sent it off.

"It's like me making the weight but showing up at a different venue.

"That's not the job, it's not what you signed for."

Earlier this year, Whittaker fought Yoel Romero at UFC 227 despite his opponent missing weight.

Weight-cutting is becoming a more prevalent issue in the sport with experts calling for fighters to fight closer to their normal weight.

Whittaker will defend his Middleweight title against American Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 234 in Melbourne on February 10 2019.
