UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker would happily fight Floyd Maywether in the Octagon, just for the monster pay day.

However, always a realist, Whittaker admits it's probably never going to eventuate.

"I think even my dad would fight him for the pay grade," Whittaker told ESPN.

"It would be an honour, but I don't even think it's a feasible idea.

"He's much smaller than I am, and I'm not a bully."

Whittaker was responding to Mayweather's claim the UFC have offered him a billion dollars to fight in the UFC.

Although, Whittaker has no problem with Mayweather or any other boxer making the move into the octagon.

"If Mayweather wants to come over and fight in the UFC then do it. It's hardcore here, though," he said.

"I don't think it'll be a stroll in the park. Granted he's the best boxer ever seen, just about.

"I think crossing them over is fine, but for the safety of the athletes I think everyone needs to be properly prepared.

"Especially guys moving into MMA because of the diversity of the skillsets."

For now, Whittaker is preparing to defend his Middleweight World Title against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221 in Perth.
