Robert Whittaker's journey to become the undisputed UFC Middleweight Champion has suffered a serious blow, after UFC President Dana White revealed Champion Georges St-Pierre will be on the sidelines.

"They called me yesterday and I think it’s out that he has colitis,” White told reporters following a UFC event in Las Vegas earlier today.

"So he’s out for a minute."

Whittaker was hoping to unify both titles at UFC 221 to be held in Perth early next year, however, all hopes for a 'home' fight have appeared to dashed.

Colitis is an inflammation of the inner lining of the colon.

Despite a fight against Whittaker stipulated in GSP's contract, following his World title win, this injury news only adds to speculation the multi-division champion is seeking other fighting options within the UFC.
