If you're watching TV late at night with work the next day and you're keen on catching just one more episode of whatever you're watching, take this as inspiration.

US snowboarder Red Gerard did exactly that, binging on a TV series all night, sleeping through his alarm and still managing to win Olympic gold the next day.

The 17-year-old stayed up watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix and overslept on Sunday morning, needing to be woken up by US teammate Kyle Mack.

Gerard rushed out the door, even forgetting his jacket and pinching Mack's.

The rough start didn't hinder him, winning gold - the first for the United States in this year's Winter Olympics - and making him their youngest gold medallist in 90 years.

The win was definitely exciting for him, with Gerard letting out a "holy f*ck" after the victory that made it to air.

Hopefully he's caught up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine too, it's definitely worth the binge.
